From Goodreads:
Will Elise’s love life be an epic win or an epic fail?
At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:
As
the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of
the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.
As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.
When
Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend,
Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of
every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare
smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming
social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in
and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are
bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only
so long.
Throughout 2012 I am trying to read as many books as I possibly can as I have just a few too many that I brought last year. This was one of them, I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down I managed to read it in just 2 days which is something that I just don't do. I liked how Elise and her family where just a normal family who struggle to get through the month on the wages that her parents earn come to the world where money is no object and they go to school with not only the rich but the famous. They have moved from one side of the US to the other side because her Mother had just got a new job as the head teacher at Coral Tree Prep and her Father is a teacher there as well.
There were so many characters in the book, but you could tell who the main characters were. Even though you see a lot of Elise's parents you know that they are background characters. I love the relationships that form between Elise and Derek and Juliana and Chase because when it was just Juliana and Chase's relationship you could tell that something was going to happen with Elise and Derek and the bumps in the road wasn't going to get in the way.
There was one character that I always had an issue with, I just thought that there was something not right with him. This character was Webster he just seemed like a slime ball and when other characters within the book had issues with him I just knew that there was something the matter with him. So when Elise starts hanging around with him I kept shouting at my book wanting her to think about what she was doing.
On every review that I read of this book it says how it is like the modern day Pride and Prejudice which I haven't read the classic so I can't compare. I think I may have to read it to see what everyone means. Overall, this was a really interesting book and I enjoyed how all the characters were somehow connected to others in the book. If you haven't read this one make sure it goes on your reading pile.
